COMPANY EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2010
Bernard Perez, Assistant General Manager from our Denver Distribution Center, has been with Lewis Paper since 2000. Bernard was hired as the Operations Manager of the Fort Collins Distribution Center and was promoted to the General Manager position in 2006.
In 2009, he became the Assistant General Manager of Denver, allowing us to reduce the Colorado Management Team to three members, which also reduced our costs in a recessionary environment.
Bernard also has the skill and knowledge to perform every job in both the Denver and Fort Collins Distribution Centers, and performs each of those jobs whenever needed, which is of great value to Lewis Paper. In addition, he is innovative. With space at a premium, Bernard reconfigured the bulk area of the warehouse to accommodate many truckloads of paper that needed to be stored for a customer. He implements many projects such as this throughout the Distribution Center, and can always be counted on to find a way to make things work!
Bernard is extremely reliable, hard-working, and dedicated, working long hours on a daily basis. He genuinely cares about Lewis Paper and our employees. He takes ownership in all aspects of his position and performance, which makes him a very valuable asset to the Colorado Distribution Centers and Lewis Paper as a whole. A very deserving Company Employee of the Year!

COMPANY EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2009
Vince, our Assistant General Manager of the South Bend Distribution Center,
has been with Lewis Paper since 1998. Vince started with Lewis Paper
as a Warehouse Manager Trainee, and has held many different positions during his tenure in South Bend.
His promotion to his current position is due to his dedication, hard work and caring attitude. Vince’s priority is Lewis Paper and our external and internal customers. This priority drives him to achieve accuracy, growth, and profitability for his Distribution Center and Lewis Paper.
Vince has led his team to achieve excellent inside sales team growth. Vince follows up on leads and proactively makes cold calls to obtain new business. Since the South Bend Distribution Center does not have a “resident” General Manager (Jeff Birtles of Portage is the General Manager of South Bend, and travels to South Bend on a weekly basis), Vince performs all management duties with Jeff’s direction as well as taking initiative on his own.
The South Bend Distribution Center has maintained business and margin, with Vince as Assistant General Manager, in spite of the fact that the South Bend area has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. That’s quite an accomplishment!

COMPANY EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2008
Shari Necheles is Lewis Paper's 2008 Company Employee of the Year!
Shari, our Director of Information Technology, has been with Lewis Paper for nearly 19 years, and has held many different positions with Lewis Paper during her tenure.
This past year, Shari singlehandedly ran and coordinated our largest and most expensive project to date: the FACTS upgrade. This project was a tremendous amount of work on Shari's part. For most of the year she worked seven days a week, oftentimes late into the night, without taking vacation or sick time. The FACTS upgrade involved a massive amount of preparation, including coordinating the T1 lines, installing new hardware at the corporate office and at all locations, never-ending testing, training, design and implementation, and much more. After the upgrade was installed and operational, Shari also handled any error conditions and made modifications as needed.
In addition to the FACTS upgrade, Shari was an important part of the Addison Distribution Center facility move, and her hard work and involvement with that project helped ensure the move went smoothly. She also played an essential part of the FSC & SFI certification project. Shari made sure our system was able to contain the FSC & SFI Certification information and apply it on the appropriate documents. All this in addition to the usual day-to-day issues!
Shari's hard work and dedication are an inspiration to us all. She has done, and continues to do, an amazing job for all of us at Lewis Paper!
